With the northeast monsoon rains lashing the district for the past four days, especially at Kundah, Geddai, Coonoor and Barliyar, about 280 hazardous spots have been identified by the District administration. Camps for the public to take shelter in these areas have been arranged.
The District Collector stated that the Highway Department, Fire and Rescue Operations Department and the Forest Department are on stand by for rescue operations anytime. "In case of heavy rains today, the traffic on the Coonoor-Mettupalayam road will be halted," she added.
