Coimbatore: A damaged causeway which fell apart owing to heavy rains in the Kummitipati area of Coimbatore district caused traffic disruption in the region.

The onset of the northeast monsoon has resulted in heavy rainfall in and around Coimbatore.

Kummitipati area near Madukarai had heavy rains last night causing flooding of the Manjalpallam river.

The ground bridge on Kummitipati-KG Chavadi road fell apart with the flooding rainwater causing traffic congestion in the area. People travelling to Kumitipati, Kuttikoundapathi, Marisettipati, KG Chavadi and Pichanur had to travel extra kilometres due to the detour.
The public have requested authorities to repair the damaged bridge at the earliest to ease flow of traffic ont he raod.
