Coimbatore : A 10-year old girl undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital succumbed to fever, today.
Deepika (10), daughter of Babu, a resident of Periyar Nagar area in Puliakulam is a sixth-grade student of Marudur Corporation Primary School. She had been suffering from fever for the past ten days and was admitted at the Government Hospital in Coimbatore on October 16. In spite of the treatment, Deepika succumbed to her illness at 8 am this morning, at the hospital.
Her body has been taken to her home for her last rituals. Though the hospital denies of dengue, the relatives of the girl have stated that the girl was admitted to CMCH and was diagnosed with dengue. She was treated for dengue and succumbed to the illness, today.
Following Deepika's death, the Corporation workers are spraying medicines near her home to keep the neighbourhood safe. The act of the corporation officials creates suspicion, if the girl died of dengue fever.
