Coimbatore: The Kerala Cultural Trust and the Thrissur Journalists Association operating in Coimbatore will jointly host the "Iyarkkai Seetram Matrum Uyirvazhvu' photo exhibition on October 18 and 19, at the Kasthuri Sreenivasan Cultural Centre on Avinashi Road.
Coimbatore: The Kerala Cultural Trust and the Thrissur Journalists Association operating in Coimbatore will jointly host the "Iyarkkai Seetram Matrum Uyirvazhvu' photo exhibition on October 18 and 19, at the Kasthuri Sreenivasan Cultural Centre on Avinashi Road.
Speaking at the media briefing held today at the Coimbatore Press Club, the Kerala Cultural Trust President Visagan said, "Due to heavy rains in Kerala in August last year, many people lost their homes and their belongings but many people also extended help and assistance during that time. The damage caused by the rains were captured by the journalists and those photographs will be displayed in this exhibition. Our aim is to highlight precautions that people should take to deal with the impact of natural disasters. The exhibition will feature 110 rare photos taken by Kerala photographers. Circulars have been sent to all schools and colleges in Coimbatore district and more than 5,000 people are expected to visit the exhibition," he added.
Visagan also stated that the photo exhibition was also held in Mumbai and Kolkata two months ago. "The exhibition in Coimbatore will be inaugurated by the Commander of the 105 Rapid Force, Jayakrishnan. Prizes will be awarded to students who write the best caption for the displayed photographs," he added.
Mohan Kumar, Vice President of the Kerala Cultural Trust, Manoj, Co-Secretary, and Joti Kumar, Secretary, Arts Division also attended the media briefing.
