But the overflowing of water from the dam has resulted in water wastage. Hence, public in the region have appealed to the Coonoor Municipality Administration to construct a check dam for the Ralliah dam to prevent water wastage.
Ralliah Dam is one of the major reservoirs in Coonoor that supplies water to the most of the 30 wards in Coonoor Corporation. Earlier the water supply was done once in 10-15 days. However, since the water level of the dam has increased now, water distribution could now be done once in 5-6 days.
Officials state that there is enough drinking water sources in reservoirs, including Bellatti Mattam, Bandumai, Karadipallam and Karansi which could mean that there will be no water scarcity for a few more months in and around Coonoor.
