Coimbatore : Registering their condemnation against the comments passed by Karappan, a weaver from Sirumugai on Hindu Gods - Krishna and Athivarathar, the BJP cadres along with Hindu Munnani held a demonstration at Sirumugai on Wednesday urging the arrest of the weaver.

Recently, Karappan, an award winning weaver from Sirumugai allegedly passed derogatory comments on Hindu Gods at the DMK convention held in Mettupalayam.
The video of his speech was widely circulated in social media and had garnered condemnation from various fringe outfits. Last week, Hindu Munnani and BJP cadres lodged a complaint with the Sirumugai police demanding arrest of the weaver.
The complainants noted that his comments has hurt the sentiments of the Hindus and that he should be booked for spreading hate speech.
As there was no action taken by the police, the Hindu Munnani and BJP cadres protested at Nal road in Sirumugai, today.
Over 100 protestors including women participated in this protest which was headed by BJP District Head Swaminathan. They raised slogans and demanded immediate arrest of him.
