Coimbatore: Saravanakumar, an Arunthathiyar student studying in Class 9 at the Madurai District Palamedu Maravapatti Government School was allegedly attacked with a blade by a fellow-student Eshwaran. The Dravidian Tamilar Katchi (DTK) protested against the incident in front of the Southern Regional Office.
Coimbatore: Saravanakumar, an Arunthathiyar student studying in Class 9 at the Madurai District Palamedu Maravapatti Government School was allegedly attacked with a blade by a fellow-student Eshwaran. The Dravidian Tamilar Katchi (DTK) protested against the incident in front of the Southern Regional Office.

Led by DTK's district leader Kathiravan, the protestors raised slogans condemning the caste bias which is said to have instigated the attack against Saravanakumar. He said that the Government should take stringent action against those who engage in caste bais and untouchability in schools and colleges across Tamil Nadu.

It is reported that an argument broke out between Saravanakumar and Eshwaran who alleged that Saravanakumar had hid his school bag at the bus station on October 13. Eshwaran allegedly attacked Saravanakumar with a blade that he had with him, for speaking against him. Saravanakumar sustained serious injuries on the spine and is presently receiving treatment at the Madurai Government Hospital.
