Coimbatore : Proving that water bodies in Coimbatore have no respite from pollution and blatant dumping of wastes, the Chithiraichavadi water channel in Veerakeralam is being destroyed.
The situation was filmed by Manikandan from the Kovai Kulangal Padhugappu Amaippu who also took the issue to social media.

“The channel is filled with baby diapers, used tire and tire tubes, poultry waste, plastic bottles and other plastic wastes. The dumped wastes are not only clogging the channel, but are also polluting the ground water,” he said.
He further added that since the water could be consumed by people in one way or the other, it could turn hazardous for them and cause ill effects.
“People should understand that the government cannot do everything. They should take responsibility and help preserve water bodies. If they stop dumping, conservation activities could turn fruitful,” he opined.
