Coimbatore: A speeding private bus crashed into the rear of a car which was waiting to take a right turn near Cheran Nagar on Mettupalayam Road, this morning.
With speeding private buses owing to rash drivers being a major cause for accidents on the city's busy roads, the inaction of the Government and district administration even after several complaints by the public to curb the private buses seems to continue. In the instance of the bus colliding into the car this morning, there were no casualties in the fatal accident.
When the couple in the car questioned the bus driver and the four conductors present, they reportedly stated brazenly that the brakes went haywire and hence the driver lost control and crashed into the car.
It is to be noted that the bus in this case had flouted most rules. Having four conductors on a bus is not allowed as per transport rules. Overloading of passengers on the bus and overspeeding are cited as the probable reasons for the brake failure in the bus.
