The current engine is a Class 7 X engine and a very old crane was being used for its maintenance, until now. Over 10 employees use the crane to dismantle the engine for maintenance which was an arduous task. Hence, the Southern Railways has introduced the electricity-operated Jib Crane for easy maintenance of the engine.
