Coimbatore : MP P R Natarajan has warned of staging a series of agitations demanding restart of train services from Coimbatore to other Southern districts that had been halted, owing to the widened rail track construction work between Coimbatore and Pollachi.
It has been reported that even after the completion of work and other trains have started to operate on the new widened track, train services that were stopped between Coimbatore and Pollachi had not yet resumed operations. In this scenario, a discussion meeting was held at Periyar Padipagam, Gandhipuram to discuss on protests to demand restart of train services.

TPDK, DMK, CPM, MDMK, VSK and other organisations participated in the meeting. Following this, MP P R Natarajan addressed the reporters urging them to restart operation of trains like the Coimbatore-Rameshwaram, Coimbatore-Thoothukudi, Coimbatore-Madurai and Coimbatore-Bangalore.

MP P R Natarajan announced that it was decided at the meeting to conduct a signature protest on October 23 in front of the Coimbatore Railway Station and if the demands were not immediately met, then a series of agitations including rail roko will ensure.
