Some of the project ideas that the corporates could initiate as CSR activities are tree plantation, maintaining traffic islands, beautifying the city through wall paintings, funds to procure bandicoot robots, light motor vehicles and installation of CCTV cameras, under the CSR fund.
As part of CSR, corporate houses could consider these projects and implement them after getting the approval from CCMC. The idea is to engage many corporate houses across Coimbatore to develop the city through several people-friendly projects.
According to sources, this idea was conceived to engage corporates since the CSR funds available in Coimbatore are huge. The District Collector, K Rajamani had stated at an event a few months ago that 100 crores CSR funds are available in Coimbatore.
Over 100 SBAs across all zones are working to spread a word on various activities on behalf of the City Corporation, including waste segregation at source and rainwater harvesting.
