A few months ago, a priest had lodged a complaint at the Valparai Police station about the missing idol, following which the police were investigating the case.
Meanwhile, a sack was seen left unattended for a long period of time, in front of a shop in the Valparai market area. The public informed the police who arrived at the spot and found that it was the same idol that had been reported as missing. Sub Inspector Veeramal retrieved the idol and is also investigating its sudden appearance at the market area.
