Coimbatore: Residents in Kumarapalayam submited a petition to the District Collector urging for help to find a 5-year old girl who had been playing and to also protect them against police harassment under the guise of investigating the case.

Jayakumar (36), a native of Kumarapalayam near Sulur, Coimbatore district is married to Kavitha and has two children, Vetrivel (7) and Shamini (5). Jayakumar and his wife work in a private factory in the same town. Shamini reportedly went missing while playing with other children on October 5. The Sulur police have filed a case and are investigating the matter.
Regarding this case, the police are still struggling for clues to trace the child, even after seven days of her disappearance.
