Coimbatore: In a brazen case of cheating the public, few men along with Chandran Mani, the chief accused, have been arrested for setting up fake tribunal courts, fake documents and swindled several lakh rupees. The four-hour raid in Chandran Mani’s home had helped confiscate various key documents.

This incident came to light when a businessman Jeganathan who hails from Salem district who has land in the Adiyaman Fort area near Dharmapuri had found out that some of his land documents had been forged and sold off.
Jeganathan filed a complaint with the Dharmapuri District Police and later also filed a case in the court. District Criminal Investigation Department had arrested Nagaraj who was accused and investigated him. It was revealed that he was complicit in producing the forged documents and was involved in fraudulently creating fake court files and forming a fake tribunal. Following this, two lawyers from Coimbatore, who were also involved in the scam, were arrested along with “fake judge” named Chandran from Mettupalayam.
Chandran (54), son of Angamuthu from Mettupalayam, Coimbatore district, was acting as a fake judge. Chandran was arrested by the Dharmapuri District Crime Unit on a directive by Dharmapuri District Superintendent of Police, Rajan. Kumar, who was also his guardian, and his accomplice, were held by the police on surveillance while crossing the customs checkpoint in Karur district. The confiscation of guns from them has also caused shock to the nature of the crimes that might have been committed.
Dharmapuri Police who arrived at Chandran’s home in Mettupalayam town today arrested Chandran and conducted a four hour raid in his house. The police seized a large number of documents, including boxes and suitcases, as well as important documents relating to court fraud and land fraud.
The story of “fake Judge Chandran” has been circulating in the area for the past seven years and people are relieved that finally the police have arrested the perpetrators.
