The Nilgiris: 'Yanai' Rajendran, a social activist and lawyer in Coonoor addressed the media here saying, "The Nilgiris that I knew four years ago and the Nilgiris I see now is drastically different with the increasing number of resorts built which have depleted the forest cover in Nilgiris. In spite of the Supreme Court banning building on agricultural lands, resorts are still being built in Nilgiris which is saddening," he opined.

Commenting on various issues, 'Yanai' Rajendran said, "Justice V K Tahilramani has been interrogated by the CBI because of his involvement in idol smuggling. Also, Court action will be taken against the private company which is selling water and against construction which are enroachments near the lakes."
