Coimbatore: With the southwestern monsoon continuing to pound the Western Ghats in Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts, Mettupalayam has been receiving good rainfall, along with Sirumugai and Karamadai. As an initiative to restore the green cover in the area, Green Apple, a private NGO distributed 60,000 seed pods of native trees including Vembu, Vaagai, Sorgamaram and Malaivembu to public and students, in front of the bus station.
