Coimbatore : Following a complaint that there were malpractices during the 'Kudamuzhugu Vizha' at the Karamadai Ranganathar Temple in Mettupalayam, the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board's Audit Committee conducted an inspection at the temple in Mettupalayam.

The Karamadai Ranganathar Temple is one of the oldest temples known for housing the 1000-year old Vaishnava shrines. The repair work of the temple was recently carried out with funds from the State and the public. With several crores received as donations, the authorities of the temple were reportedly accused of malpractices and did not provide receipts. Some of the prominent donors from Karamadai had complained about the discrepancy to the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board.

In this case, the Audit Committee officials led by Lakshmi, from the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board from Chennai arrived at the temple to investigate the files related to the donations received during the Kumbhabhishekam. Some of the pages from the files have been taken by the team for further inspection. To analyze these files, the staff who worked at the temple in 2015 were summoned for investigation. The Audit Committee completed their work and stated that the report would be submitted to the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board.
