Coimbatore : The District Collector, K Rajamani ordered the Transport Police to lock two-wheelers that were parked in the 'No Parking' area of the District Collectorate.
Hundreds of people throng the District Collectorate on a daily basis. Discussion meetings for Government officials are quite common at the District Collectorate and these officials park their cars in front of the office or behind it.
In spite of alloting a parking area for two-wheelers, motorists repeatedly park their vehicles in a haphazard manner all over the District Collectorate premises. Since a discussion meeting was scheduled today, the District Collector arrived at the office to find two-wheelers parked indiscriminately in the entire premises which caused inconvenience to others who were visiting the Collectorate. The Collector immediately ordered the Transport Police to lock the vehicles with chains.
Following the Collector's order, the Transport Police locked the vehicles and imposed fines. Upon enquiring, it was found that the vehicles belonged to the Government employees working at the Collectorate. The Transport Police further instructed the owners of vehicles to meet the District Collector, only after which the locks on their vehicles will be removed.
Following this, the owners of the vehicles met the District Collector and apologised for their actions, and gave their word to refrain from parking haphazardly hereon. The immediate action of the District Collector on erring employees was lauded by the public.
