Coimbatore: As part of the Chief Minister's order on eradicating plastic materials, the Corporation officials in keeping with the orders of the CCMC Commissioner and Special Officer, Sravan Kumar Jatavath inspected 1,535 shops in the city and seized 1,322 kg of banned plastic materials, and also imposed a fine of Rs.1,79,400.
Coimbatore: As part of the Chief Minister's order on eradicating plastic materials, the Corporation officials in keeping with the orders of the CCMC Commissioner and Special Officer, Sravan Kumar Jatavath inspected 1,535 shops in the city and seized 1,322 kg of banned plastic materials, and also imposed a fine of Rs.1,79,400.
In his report, the CCMC Commissioner stated, "About 205 shops were inspected in the Coimbatore North region and 121.5 kg of banned plastic materials were seized, and a fine of Rs.19,600 was imposed. About 289 shops in the Coimbatore South region were also inspected and 142.5 kg of banned plastic materials were seized, and a fine of Rs.26,800 was imposed."
"About 509 shops in the East Zone were inspected and 40 kg of banned plastic materials were seized; following which a fine of Rs.18,500 was imposed. 357 shops of West Zone were also inspected and about 384 kg of banned plastic materials were confiscated with a fine of Rs.74,700 imposed. 175 shops in Coimbatore Central Zone was inspected and about 634 kg of banned plastic materials were seized, with a fine of Rs.39,800 imposed. Overall, a total of 1,535 shops in Coimbatore were inspected of which 1,322 kg of banned plastic items were seized and a total fine amount of Rs.1,79,400 was imposed," added the CCMC Commissioner.
