Prashanth, a resident of Velankanni Nagar in Coimbatore works in a private finance company. His father is unemployed and stays at home. Meanwhile, Prashanth's maternal uncle Suresh who is a lorry driver hailing from Nadur, Mettupalayam reportedly insists daily on Prashanth's father accompanying him to consume liquor. Since this caused frequent quarrels in Prashanth's house, an angry Prashanth went to his uncle Suresh's house last night to question him on the habit of taking his father along to consume alcohol. A heated argument broke out between the two and it is reported that in a fit of rage, Suresh brutally stabbed Prashanth with a knife, on his hip and thighs.
A grievously injured Prashanth was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries en route. The police rushed to the spot and arrested Suresh. Even as Suresh is being investogated, residents and family in the area are devastated at the tragedy of losing a responsible youth like Prashanth, in his prime.
