Coimbatore: In a tragic turn of events, a clash between two milk van drivers while cleaning their vehicles ahead of Ayudha Pooja resulted in the death of one of the milk van drivers.

Chinnamthambi (39) hailed from Melur in Madurai district and lived with his family in the village of Vettuvapayalam near Avinashi. He worked as a milk van driver in the same area. Similarly, Manikandan (35), a resident of Sendhamangalam, near Rasipuram in Namakkal District lives in Vettupalayam with his family and works as a van driver for the same dairy.
On Monday, Chinnathambi and Manikandan were involved in the cleaning and maintenance of their respective vans, ahead of Ayudha Pooja. An argument broke out between the two which escalated into a huge fight that resulted in Chinnathambi hiting Manikandan with a block. Enraged, Manikandan took a knife and stabbed Chinnathambi twice in the chest.
Neighbours rushed to the spot and took Chinnathambi who was lying in a pool of blood to a nearby private hospital for immediate first aid and later took him to the Government Hospital for treatment. But Chinnathambi succumbed to his grievous injuries and passed away. He is survived by his wife Parameswari, two daughters Jayalakshmi and Jayamani, and a son, Jegan.
The Seyur police are on the lookout for Manikandan who has reportedly escaped after stabbing Chinnathambi.
