Mettupalayam's Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, also known as Then Thirupathi kick-started its Puratasi Bramotsavam festival on September 9 with a flag-hoisting ceremony. Devotees thronged for Venkatesha Perumal's blessings as the deity was taken in a big and small Sesha Vahanam, Garuda Vahanam, Simma Vahanam and Anumantha Vahanam.

Meanwhile, the car procession, which is the main event of Brahmotsavam, was held today. When Malaiyappa Swamy proceeded with Sridevi and Poodevi in the car procession, thousands of devotees pulled the chariot chanting 'Govinda Govinda' amid mantras chanted by priests, even as they proceeded to receive the Swamy Darshan.
