Tirupur: Ahead of Ayudha pooja, the sale of flowers and fruits at the Poo market are in full swing. Though the prices are comparitively higher than the last year, the public are enthusiastically shopping ahead of the festival.
Tirupur: Ahead of Ayudha pooja, the sale of flowers and fruits at the Poo market are in full swing. Though the prices are comparitively higher than the last year, the public are enthusiastically shopping ahead of the festival.

The sale of puffed rice, banana plants, sugarcane, flowers, mango leaves, fruits has increased. The prices of a pair of banana leaves is sold at Rs. 30, mango leaves are sold at Rs. 10, a pair of sugarcane is being sold at Rs. 100 like last year.

Similarly like last year, the price of fruits have been increased by approximately Rs. 50/kg owing to the festival. The price of apple which was sold for Rs. 120 yesterday is being sold for Rs 180 today, the price oranges has increased from Rs. 80 to Rs. 120, pomegranate from Rs. 90 to Rs. 140.

Likewise the price of flowers are also exorbitantly high with jasmines sold for Rs. 600/KG yesterday is sold for Rs. 1200/kg today, price of mullai flowers has increased from Rs. 300 to Rs. 500, price of Jathi Malli has increased from Rs. 240 to Rs. 480, price of Sevanthi has increased from Rs. 100 to Rs. 320 today.
This increase is a seasonal boost to farmers and most of the time people are happy to pay the sellers more money during these festivals.
