A couple of hours ago, R. Gunasekaran, Zonal sanitary officer of west zone seized a tractor which was trying to dump plastic wastes into the water body.
According to sources from the Corporation, sacks of wastes including plastic wastes which was planned to be dumped in Muthannan Kulam was caught red-handed by the ZSO and upon enquiry it was revealed that the sacks contained mostly banned plastics and other wastes.
"Two people were in the tractor, one was trying to push the sacks one by one into the lake and the other was the driver. The officer caught them in action and seized the tractor which was sent to Corporation main office", stated a senior corporation official.
He added that further action will be initiated tomorrow.
