Vellalore bus terminal gets administrative sanction; tender to be floated by CCMC

Coimbatore: The much-awaited Vellalore bus terminal has finally got administrative sanction and CCMC is confident to get technical sanction too shortly, following which tenders to invite bids will be floated by the civic body.

Coimbatore: The much-awaited Vellalore bus terminal has finally got administrative sanction and CCMC is confident to get technical sanction too shortly, following which tenders to invite bids will be floated by the civic body.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami during the last legislative assembly session announced that the Vellalore bus terminal shall be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.168 crores. While, Rs. 84 crores would be provided by the state government as grant, the remaining cost shall be borne by the Corporation.

Corporation Commissioner, J Sravan Kumar said that CCMC would float the tender inviting bids for the project in a couple of days, as they are expecting to receive technical sanction in a day or two. The project duration is two years from the date of issuance of the work order, he noted. 

As per the project details, there shall be 120 bays for the buses to park at any given time with separate space for Omnibuses. 

Speaking on this, CCMC Commissioner, Sravan Kumar said, "The terminal would be constructed in 61 acres. And, the terminal shall include all the basic amenities like parking space for vehicles, ATM, food joints, dormitory, cloakroom etc."
