The camp aims to identify the tumour at the early stages of breast cancer in order to cure the disease completely. The screening and consultation is completely free for those registering for the camp.

Addressing the media, Dr. Kiruba Shankar, Medical Oncologist from PSG Hospital stated, "Breast cancer is becoming very common in our country. Early detection of breast cancer alone can be the key to survival. Breast self examinations, clinical examination and screening mammography are essential in helping to detect breast cancer at an early state, when the chances of complete cure are the highest." She added, "In India 60 percent of breast cancer is identified at stage 3 and 4 by when the disease may not be completely curable. So, this camp helps women and their families to know about the disease and methods to detect it at the earliest to diagnose the disease.
Dr. T Balaji, Project Director stated, "There is no specific reason for the disease but the risk factors for breast cancer are obesity, age, diet and tobacco use. In foreign countries, around 89 percent of breast cancer patients are cured. This is because of the early detection and screening awareness programmes by those countries. In our country, awareness should increase and women should come forward to detect the disease at its early stage."
