Coimbatore : In a bid to inspire engineering students with a healthy knowledge of motorsport vehicle manufacturing and fabrication, Fraternity of Mechanical and Automotive Engineers (FMAE) held static events at Kumaraguru College of Technology, here from September 28-30.
Coimbatore : In a bid to inspire engineering students with a healthy knowledge of motorsport vehicle manufacturing and fabrication, Fraternity of Mechanical and Automotive Engineers (FMAE) held static events at Kumaraguru College of Technology, here from September 28-30.
The dynamic events were held at Kari Motor Speedway, here from October 2-3, 2019.
Out of the 20 teams registered, 18 teams participated in the event. The overall champion of the FFS 2019 event was won by "Team Sakthi Racing” Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore. The runner up was "Formula Team Peagsus” PES College of Technology, Pune.
FFS 2019 competition had teams from various colleges, institutes and universities to design, fabricate and develop the formula style prototype car under the specific rules as mentioned in this rulebook and compete with other teams in various static and dynamic events.
This year, around 25 teams with 500 to 600 participants and 10 judges across the country were part of FFS 2019.
In static events, the student formula cars were inspected by the judges/ experts from Industries.
In dynamic event, the student formula car was driven to test various aspects like acceleration, braking test, autocross and skid pad. Once the car passes all these tests, the car is advanced to endurance round where the car is driven in the track.
The cars are taken for a trial lap with the safety cars to know better about the track and then the endurance round starts. It has 18 laps. The winner was selected based on the time taken to complete the respective laps.
