Prem Kumar of Sri Lanka was detained at the Chennai airport when he tried to travel abroad using a fake passport. Airport officials handed him over to the Q branch police. Investigations conducted by the police revealed that Rajmohankumar (43), from Odakkadu, Tirupur had helped Prem Kumar to obtain a fake passport for Rs.28 lakhs.
Subsequently, the police conducted an inquiry and discovered that Rajmohankumar, a veteran DMK member and the organiser of the North DMK business team had set up an office in Tirupur and was in the business of issuing passports to send migrant workers abroad. He also runs a petrol bunk and is involved in getting orders for hosiery units in Tirupur.

Police arrested Rajmohankumar and raided his home and office, as well as that of his lady assistant named Bharathi from Rakkipalayam. Q branch police have also collected details of accomplices and have kept them under surveillance. It is reported that some people, including prominent figures in the State are likely to be investigated by the police with regard to this case. Q branch police said that the arrests have been made and it is expected that the entire gang involved in the business of fake passports will soon be arrested.
