Due to the incessant rains that the district has been experiencing, 12 dams in the district have reached their full capacity. In the last few days, surplus water from Pykara, Glenmorgan and Murkurthi Dams in the district was released since the dams had reached their full capacity.
The Avalanche Dam has reached its full capacity of 171 feet for the second time last night, and considering the safety of the dam, 450 cubic feet of water was discharged which is of immense benefit for the residents and farmers of Kundah and Pillur areas. Officials said that surplus water from the dams will be discharged in the event of continuous heavy rains.
