To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Grama Sabha meetings are being held across the State at all Panchayat unions. In one such meeting, the villagers of Chikkadasampalayam, Jadayampalayam in Mettupalayam putforth their petitions to the officials.
Focus on Jalsakthi Abhiyan project which aims to improve water resources and details of ponds de-silted ahead of the upcoming monsoons were also discussed.
During the meet, the villagers stressed to organise regular veterinary medical camps to protect their cattle from seasonal diseases.
The people and the officials pledged to avoid one-time-use plastics. Awareness on usage of toilets and annihilating open defecation were also emphasised. The officials also advised the people to take nutrient-rich food to avoid health issues.
