Various issues like banning usage and manufacture of one-time-use plastics, planning for rainwater harvesting ahead of north-east monsoon, health management against communicable diseases caused by mosquitoes, water management and awareness on responsible usage of water, progress of various schemes in panchayat unions, panchayat union administration, noon meal schemes, by, Pradhan Mantri Surakhshana Bhimayojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevanjothi Bhimayojana, Atal pension Yojana, Amma two-wheeler scheme and more were discussed.
Addressing the gathering, the District Collector said "Before the onset of north-east monsoon all the water bodies will be desilted to allow free flow of water at all water channels. Desilting will allow percolation.of water."
He urged the residents to use water responsibly and install rain water harvesting structures.
"People should not think that their responsibilty ends by attending Grama Sabha meeting. But, they should actively participate in the schemes by the government", he said.
He instructed the PDS officials to maintain sufficient stock of essential commodities.
The collector apprised that he has instructed to renovate Anganwadi building and roads leading to graveyards. And, proposal for new community halls has also been made, he added.
Following this, the District Collector distributed palm tree seeds to the farmers.
Ruban Sankar Raja, Project Director of DRDA, Agriculture Deputy Director Chithra Devi, Agricultural department Assistant to the District Collector Sivasubramanian, Agricultural Deputy Director Tom Sailas, Assistant Direct (Panchayat Union) Srinivasan, Zonal Welfare Officers Sundari, Ganesan and other government officials were present.
