Coimbatore: Members of the All Department Pensioners Association staged a protest in front of the South Taluk Office over 10 various demands, which included withdrawal of the New Pension Scheme.
The All Department Pensioners Association members demanded ten features that include Government having to stop temporary dismissal on the day of retirement and charging a person on section 17B to stop them from receiving pensions in violation of Government regulations, withdrawal of New Pension Scheme, grant Rs.7850 for pensioners who do not earn a minimum pension.
The demonstration led by Paramasivam, President of the Circle had more than 30 pensioners chanting slogans and emphasizing their demands.
Addressing the media later, the pensioners stated that even after repeatedly appealing action for these demands, the Government had not taken any steps thus far. They highlighted that today, October 1, being marked as the International Day for Elderly People, the Government of Tamil Nadu has to take immediate action for the above mentioned demands and said that the agitation was being carried out in other capital cities too.
The Secretary of the Branch, Vivekandandan, District Deputy Vice President Chandran, Joint Secretaries and many others took part in the protest.
