Tree uproots in Kotagiri: One killed and another injured

The Nilgiris: Two youth were tragically trapped in a hut on which a tree had fallen owing to the torrential downpour in Kotagiri.

The Nilgiris: Two youth were tragically trapped in a hut on which a tree had fallen owing to the torrential downpour in Kotagiri.

Incessant rains in the Nilgiris District has been hampering daily life in the district. Residents of Mettukal area, Nitish Kumar (22), the son of Subramai, and Sakthivel (21) the son of Mahalingam farm for a living. Owing to security reasons, the duo stay overnight in a small hut on the farm. Last night, due to heavy rains and gusty winds, a tree uprooted and fell on the hut killing Nitish Kumar on the spot and grievously injuring Sakthivel.



Sakthivel was rushed to the Ooty Government Hospital by his relatives. The Kotagiri police have filed a case and are investigating.
