Coimbatore: In a bizarre incident, about 20 workers of a tea estate in Valparai were stung by honey bees and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
About 20 workers, both male and female, arrived at the No 1. garden of Sriram Estate for collecting tea leaves this morning. All of a sudden, a swarm of bees attacked the unsuspecting workers who had to abruptly abandon their work and run away to save themselves from the bees.
The bees reportedly followed the workers and continued to attack them. Upon receiving information, the management rushed to the spot and took the stung tea workers to the estate hospital for first aid, after which 17 of the victims were sent to the Valparai Government Hospital for further treatment.
