Alert public nab and thrash cell phone snatcher; Hand him over to police

Coimbatore: Alert public in the Edayarpalayam area nabbed and thrashed a fleeing cell phone snatcher and handed him over to the police, on Monday. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the man was a repeat offender and had been involved in similar incidents in the past.


Coimbatore: Alert public in the Edayarpalayam area nabbed and thrashed a fleeing cell phone snatcher and handed him over to the police, on Monday. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the man was a repeat offender and had been involved in similar incidents in the past. 

Arvind Kumar, a driver from Edayarpalayam was walking on the pavement in the area when two bike-borne men snatched his cell phone and fled the scene. A shocked Arvind Kumar stopped a motorist and chased the men. Hearing him scream, the alert public rounded up the fleeing cell phone snatchers and informed the Thudiyalur police. 

While one of the men managed to escape, the public thrashed the other man and retrieved the cell phone. Upon investigation by the Thudiyalur Police, the accused was identified as Sanob from G M Nagar in Ukkadam. The police said that he had been involved in three such cell phone thefts in the past. A case has been filed and the police are on the lookout for the other accused who escaped.
