Coimbatore: An elephant herd which strayed into the residential area of Thenmudi estate in Valparai damaged a house, while the residents looked helpless to scare away the rampaging animal.
Coimbatore: An elephant herd which strayed into the residential area of Thenmudi estate in Valparai damaged a house, while the residents looked helpless to scare away the rampaging animal.
At around 2 am on Saturday, a herd of over 10 elephants rampaged a house in Thenimudi estate in Valparai. The herd damaged the main entrance of the house completely leaving the residents run for help.
Manickam along with his family had nightmare of his life on Saturday, after he heard loud banging sound at his entrance door. When he peeped outside the window, he was shell-shocked to find at least a dozen of elephants in front of his house trying to break the walls.
He along with his family had a narrow escape by using the back doors to escape.
Following Manickam's house, a part of the herd rampaged the house of Kavitha of the same area.
After hearing the residents cry for help, the security staff in the estate chased the elephants away using tractors. As the elephants have camped in the farther side of the estate, the residents are struck in panic and fear yet another rampage tonight.
