Parked car catches fire in Ooty

The Nilgiris: A car parked at Commercial street which is one of the busiest joints in Ooty caught fire on Friday, leaving the passersby in panic.

The Nilgiris: A car parked at Commercial street which is one of the busiest joints in Ooty caught fire on Friday, leaving the passersby in panic. 



On Friday noon, the public noticed smoke emanating from a Maruti 800 car parked in the parking lot area of the Commercial street. Within few minutes, the fire caught up and gutted the car completely. 

As the fire rose intensively, the shop owners especially the street vendors who had has cylinders panicked and closed their shops. 



Over ten firefighters were deployed to douse the fire and secure the neighbourhood. 

The police have commenced an inquiry about the incident. 



The fire accident halted the traffic for a couple of hours on the commercial street in Ooty.
