Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi Palanisamy stated in a function held in Coimbatore that steps will be taken to bring more rare species of birds and animals to the Anna Zoological Park in Chennai.

The TN CM participated in the event organised at the Tamil Nadu Forest Academy to distribute certificates to 550 Forest Guards including 168 women and 45 drivers on the successful completion of their training.
The CM received the honorary march by the Forest Guards and later witnessed their brilliant talent display during the event.
Forest Guards were trained for 6 months on fire management, animal conflict, water management, horticulture, classroom training, exercise, self-defence, kawat training, yoga, driving, swimming, photography and more. Nine theoretical and vocational exams were conducted and 75 teachers were involved in their training. Intensive field training was also provided in 15 tiger reserves across Tamil Nadu, forest research centres and swamp forests.
The Minister of Forests, Dindigul C Sreenivasan, Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Programme, S P Velumani and others were also present.
The TN Chief Minister opined that in terms of Forest Departments, Tamil Nadu had been a pioneer for all of India. "The State's functions have helped in covering 33 percent of the State as forest area.
Currently, there is 20.21 percent of forest area in Tamil Nadu now, the Government aims to plant 71 lakh trees by 2021," added the CM. He said that there were a lot of opportunities waiting for forest officers and asked them to be prepared to take them up.
