The unprecedented rains in the Nilgiris district of Avalanche last month caused heavy damage, with over 100 electricity workers and their families trapped in Avalanche, during the rains. One employee had died in the Kattu Kuppai power plant.
The Minister of Electricity, Thangamani inspected the power plant today and also provided relief materials to electricity workers. He also said that the Avalanche Power Board will be provided with all facilities including ambulance facilities for the affected people.
Thangamani said that 5000 vacant places in the Department will be filled soon. He said that work is underway to construct a new hydroelectric power of 2000 MW station at Jilla Halla in the Nilgiris district.
He then inspected the Kattu Kuppai Power Generation Center and consoled the power workers and also offered relief items. He also reviewed the work progress of the power generation tunnel.
