The frequent movement of wild bears in human settlements in the Kotagiri limits has become a regular phenomenon, these days. Recently, a bear with two of its cub was spotted in the tea estates of Aravenu-Alakarai area near Kotagiri-Coonoor road.

Meanwhile, a bear along with its cub was seen climbing a fruit bearing tree on the Kotagiri-Coonoor this morning, which was witnessed by hundreds of motorists and passersby. Though frightful, the rare sight of the bear plucking fruits along with its cub enthralled the spectators who recorded the incident in their mobile phones.
