The company while filing to the stock exchange recently had mentioned that it will have 1-3 "no-working days" in its plant 1 at Coimbatore and 3-6 "non-working days" in its plants 3 and 4 in Coimbatore. The other plants across the country will also have no-production days varying from 2 to 9 days. This, according to the company, is to align production to the sales requirement of their customers.
Commenting on Pricol's announcement, Balaji Chinnappa, Chief Operating Officer, Pricol said, "The company has decided on "no-production days" in September to align production with the customer requirement, and that is the bottom line. In plant 1, "no-production" days will be 1 day per week on Saturdays. It varies across plants, but there is no block closure. Our orders from the automobile manufacturing companies have come down and so the company is taking a 10-15 percent production cut across plants, but we are hopeful that the situation will revive soon," he added.
