Five-year-old child succumbs to dengue in Coimbatore GH

A five-year-old died due to dengue fever in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Tuesday.

Coimbatore: A five-year-old died due to dengue fever in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Tuesday. The girl who had been admitted a couple of days back, was undergoing critical treatment for dengue fever after she was tested positive for the same. 

Ramzan Fathima (5), Daughter of Mansoor Ali Khan from Madathukulam in Tirupur has been suffering from high fever and was admitted on September 18 at Udumalai GH for treatment. After she was tested positive for dengue she was shifted to Pollachi GH, the next day

As she began showing signs of complication, on September 22, Fathima was shifted to special ward in Coimbatore GH. However, she succumbed to fever in the wee hours of September 24.  

The death of the five-year-old child due to dengue, the mosquito borne disease has alarmed the people. 

Though the officials have reitrated that dengue and other seasonal fevers have significantly reduced this year, public have requested the corporation to clear garbages in a timely manner as such places become breeding ground for such disease-spreading mosquitoes and germs.
