Coimbatore: The Coimbatore pump and accessories manufacturers association (COPMA) has planned a strike on September 27 condemning the property tax hike by the city Corporation, in which more than 3 000 motor pump set companies would take part.

While addressing the media, COPMA President Maniraj said, "GST is the primary reason for the downfall of the Pump set industry. The GST on job work should be eliminated. The hike in property tax by the city Corporation in these testing times is really a taxing measure for the MSME industries".
"Due to the strike the production of pump sets worth about Rs 20 crores would get affected” he noted.
The strike will coincide with the planned agitation of DMK and the opposition parties on the same day, condemning the 100 per cent property tax hike by Coimbatore Corporation and the Suez agreement for water supply.
