Coimbatore: K S Alagiri, the President of the Congress party in Tamil Nadu on a visit to the wedding hall in which the Congress party's state general committee meeting is to be held in Coimbatore met with reporters and stated that the meeting will be held in Coimbatore, on September 30.
Addressing a media query on Amit Shah's claims that if Nehru had continued the war, there would not have been "occupied Kashmir," K S Alagiri responded that people with an important stature like Amit Shah should not claim false facts. "I am not sure if Amit Shah really did not know our history or is pretending in order to change history to their favour," he said.
He added that only because of Nehru did Kashmir unite with India by declining Jinnah's request. He said that the TN Congress condemns the attempt of BJP to manipulate facts in their favour without checking the historical documents that are in possession of the Government. He further added that the Congress party would win the Nanguneri by-election and that reports of Khushboo contesting are false. "In the by-election, Udayanidhi Stalin and Vaiko will campaign. We have not made any allegations against Vaiko nor did he. We have just replied to his claims," opined K S Alagiri.
When asked whether senior leader Kumari Anandan was going to contest the by-election, he said that he is appealing and his appeal cannot go unconsidered. When asked about Minister Jeyakumar's comment on ADMK, Alagiri said, "ADMK is left uncared for. Anybody who plays around with ADMK will only end up fooling themselves. ADMK is a party of very low standards since they have given up the state ruling rights to BJP," he added.
K S Alagiri also condemned ADMK for not revealing about the return of the NEET Bill and for also remaining silent when CBI entered the headquarters. He commented that instead of answering Vijay, the ADMK should protect state rights and look to answer the CBI instead.
