TWAD Managing Director inspects ongoing drinking water projects at Kovaipudur and Anamalai areas

The Managing Director of TWAD said that the underground drainage project of the Kurinji and Kuniamuthur ward 87 -100 is being implemented at an outlay of Rs 591.14 crores and drinking water schemes are underway at an outlay of Rs 20230 crores on behalf of the TWAD.

These schemes are being implemented in 14 wards in Kurinji and Kuniamuthur.

Leading infrastructure companies such as Larsen & Toubro Pvt Ltd and C.C. Ltd have been commissioned to implement Underground Drainage system

“A unique feature is that in all the wastewater treatment plants automatic odour prevention machines are being installed. Also, after the sewer pipes are being laid, the roads and pits are closed at regular intervals” he said.

18 new drinking water overhead tanks, two drinking water distribution tanks and pipelines are being laid in the area.

“As per the advisory of Minister of Rural Development and Special Projects Implementation, a concrete floor has been constructed for 58.5km.

About 75 per cent of ongoing drinking water projects have been completed, and the rest of the work is being expedited," said Dr. C N Maheswaran.

He said that the sanitary works and water supply would be carried out to all the 14 wards in Kurinji and Kuniamuthur areas soon. 

Bidding the officials to expedite Kampalapatti Combined Drinking Water Supply Project in Anaimalai Union, the TWAD Managing Director Dr Kumaraswamy directed the officials to provide uninterrupted drinking water to all areas.

During the inspection, Udaysinghm, Director (In-charge), Sanab Sampath Kumar, Advisor, N.Murali Superintending Engineer, A. Muthaiah, K. Chellamuthu Valparai MLA, Kasthuri and other government officials took part in the survey.
