Coimbatore : An obesity awareness rally was taken out by the students of PSG College of Nursing at Bharathi Park Road in Saibaba Colony.
The participants created awareness on the perils of obesity and it culminated with a speech delivered by Dr Balamurugan.
“There was a time when Parents cheered plump looking babies and infants. In recent days, however, many studies have shown that obesity in children has been linked to many disorders in later life." Dr, Balamurugan said.
Dr Balamurugan revealed that "the city of Coimbatore leads in child obesity among many cities in Tamilnadu, which is not a good health parameter".
“If you are a young parent, ensure that the right diet is followed for kids and consult your paediatrician to ensure the kids don't become obese by overfeeding or through consumption of fatty or junk foods easily available in the market” Dr Balamurugan noted.
