Coimbatore : Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Programme, S.P. Velumani distributed 380 two-wheelers with a total of Rs. 95 lakhs for working women under the Amma two-wheeler subsidy scheme on Saturday.
Coimbatore : Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Programme, S.P. Velumani distributed 380 two-wheelers with a total of Rs. 95 lakhs for working women under the Amma two-wheeler subsidy scheme on Saturday.
Around Rs. 50 lakh worth subsidy to 200 beneficiaries in Thondamuthur, Rs. 20 lakh worth subsidy to 80 beneficiaries in Kurichi and Rs. 25 lakhs worth subsidy to 100 beneficiaries in Selvapuram were distributed.
Speaking at the event, Minister S.P. Velumani said, "Around 4949 working women were provided with two-wheeler subsidy in the year 2017-2018 at a total budget of Rs.12.32 crores and in 2018-19 750 beneficiaries were provided with subsidies worth Rs.1.87 crore. In the current year, 2019-2020, the government has planned to cover 4949 working women under the scheme."
He added that priority would be given to minorities, disabledpeople, widows, and transgenders.
On Friday, Minister S.P. Velumani also visited the co-ordinated Noon meals centre for children as part of the National Nutrition Week and flagged an awareness rally.
He also distributed Rs. 10,000 worth smartphones to 78 Anganwadi centre organizers in a budget of Rs. 7.8 lakh
District Collector, K. Rajamani IAS, District Revenue Officer, Rama Durai Murugan, Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Movement (Women's Project), K.Selvaraj, Revenue Divisional (South) Development Officer Meenakshi and many others were present.
