According to police, a four-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a neighbour identified as Kandasamy (34) in Golden Nagar, Tirupur. The girl raised an alarm and neighbours and parents rushed to her help.
Kandasamy (34) a worker in a hosiery unit had lured a four-year-old child who was playing near his house and assaulted her. He was said to be in an inebriated condition when he committed the crime.
The parents had to rush to the help of the child after her cries from inside the house reached them. They broke open the door and rescued the child.
The police who reached the spot arrested Kandasamy. The incident created a flutter in the area.
