Coimbatore: An awareness rally was organised on the occasion of the World Marrow Donor Day and Sri Ramakrishna Hospital Chief Officer Swati Rohith flagged off the rally near the Women’s Polytechnic College jointly with the blood donor Dhadri.

World Marrow Donor Day (WMDD) is celebrated globally on the third Saturday of September. In 2019 WMDD is being observed today (September 21).

This day is celebrated in more than 50 countries around the world. The rally was held to thank the donors around the world for raising public awareness of donor blood stem cell transplantation and the impact of blood stem cell transplantation on the lives of the patients.

More than 100 people and students from various organizations affiliated to the Sri Ramakrishna Hospital Blood and Blood Cancer Improvement Center and Sri Ramakrishna Foundation participated in the rally carrying balloons and banners with vital messages and created awareness on World Marrow Donor Day among members of the public.
